Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
A life coach identifies and describes current problematic behaviors so you can work to modify them. Therapists analyze their client's past as a tool for understanding present behaviors. In other words, therapists focus on “why” certain behavioral patterns occur, and coaches work on “how” to work towards your goals.
Prior to your initial visit, you will be scheduled for a brief phone consultation. The purpose of the consultation is to gain better insight on the type of support you are seeking, and also to determine if I am able to meet your needs based on my experience and coaching style.
As a coach, my goal is to help you reach your desired goals. In some instances, your needs may supersede the level of support I can offer as a coach. In those situations, you would be referred to a resource better equipped to support you, i.e. a licensed therapist. Shortly after your consultation, you will be emailed consents/questionnaires to be e-signed 48 hours prior to the initial visit. If consents/questionnaires are not returned 48 hours prior to the initial visit then the appointment will be rescheduled.
During the initial visit, I gather background history and clarify your goals. Goals are formulated based on your stated desired outcomes. We will meet on a weekly, biweekly, or monthly basis depending upon your individual needs and/or time constraints. Coaching sessions are 30-45 minutes. However, the initial visit is 60 minutes to allow time for history gathering and additional questions that may arise.
Please keep in mind that coaching is a process and is unique to everyone. Be patient with yourself and allow for flexibility as your wants and needs may change over time.
Payment for each session must be paid 24 hours prior to your session. Sessions can be paid individually or by package.
Packages include coaching sessions, (a minimum of twelve (12) thirty (30) to sixty (60) minute sessions over a course of three (3 )months. The package also includes monthly check-ins and tools/materials to help you on your journey.
Coaching can be done in person, virtually, or by phone. More details on each option will be provided during our initial consultation.
While coaching can feel therapeutic, I am not a licensed therapist. The primary focus in coaching is to move forward. “Look back, but don't dwell.” Once the need for mental health support is detected or requested, you will be referred to a professional qualified to support your needs.
